IFRF in IFATIA Executive Committee for 2026-2028 Period

On March 24, 2026, Placidus Petrus, the chairman of Indonesian Fire and Rescue Foundation (IFRF) was appointed as International Fire and Ambulance Training Institutes Association (IFATIA) Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 year.

Petrus in his own words:

Distinguished colleagues, respected leaders, and fellow members of the Association of Fire and Training Academies,

Good day.

It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to stand before you today as I take on the role of Executive Committee member of iFATIA. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me, and I am proud to represent the Indonesian Fire and Rescue Foundation in this esteemed international forum.

Fire and rescue services stand at the very heart of public safety. Across our nations, our academies shape not only skilled responders, but courageous individuals who carry the weight of protecting lives, communities, and the future. Training, therefore, is not simply a function—it is our foundation.

In my role as President and COO of the Indonesian Fire and Rescue Foundation, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of strong training systems, international collaboration, and shared knowledge. No single institution or country can face today’s evolving risks alone. Climate change, urbanization, industrial hazards, and emerging disasters demand that we learn from one another, adapt quickly, and innovate continuously.

As part of the Executive Committee, I am committed to strengthening cooperation among our academies, promoting excellence in training standards, and supporting capacity-building initiatives that empower both developed and developing nations alike. Together, we can create more inclusive platforms for knowledge exchange, enhance instructor development, and ensure that our training methodologies remain relevant, modern, and effective.

I also believe strongly in the power of partnership—between governments, training institutions, industry, and communities. By aligning our efforts, we can elevate the professionalism of fire and rescue services globally and ensure that our responders are equipped not only with technical skills, but also with leadership, resilience, and compassion.

Let us use this opportunity to build bridges, share experiences, and inspire one another. The work we do here will ultimately be reflected in safer communities and lives saved.

Thank you once again for this opportunity. I look forward to working closely with all of you in advancing our shared mission.

Stay safe, stay committed, and let us continue to serve with excellence.

Thank you.
