
Jakarta, Indonesia – The Directorate General of Regional Administration Development, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, successfully hosted the 2024 Working Meeting of the Indonesian Firefighters Association (APKARI) from September 30 to October 2 at Hotel Orchardz Jayakarta, Jakarta. This event, in collaboration with Indonesian Fire and Rescue Foundation (IFRF), aligns with the mandate of Minister of Home Affairs Regulation No. 16 of 2020 concerning the Nomenclature Guidelines for Fire and Rescue Services at the provincial and district/city levels.
The three-day event featured several insightful panel discussions and presentations, aimed at enhancing the standardization and effectiveness of fire and rescue services across the nation. The meeting was attended by representatives from various government agencies, businesses, and community organizations involved in fire prevention and mitigation.

The first panel discussion, led by Teguh Prakosa from the Directorate of Standard Development for Mechanics, Energy, Infrastructure, and Information Technology at the National Standardization Agency, focused on “The Role of APKARI in Standardizing Firefighting Facilities and Infrastructure in Regions.” This session underscored the importance of uniform standards to ensure efficiency and safety in firefighting operations.
Following this, Drs. Satriadi Gunawan, M.Si, Head of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, presented on “APKARI’s Role in the Implementation of Fire Sub-Affairs in Regions and as a Government Partner in Fire Prevention and Mitigation.” His presentation highlighted APKARI’s critical role in supporting regional fire services and collaborating with the government to enhance fire safety measures.
Both sessions were moderated by Catur Setyawan Kusumohadi, M.T. Ph.D, Coordinator of the Fire Safety Engineering Undergraduate Program at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ), who facilitated engaging discussions and ensured the smooth flow of the panels.
The third presentation, led by Hendi Kurniawan, Head of the Fire Prevention Division at the Bandung Regency Fire and Rescue Service, delved into “Technical Identification of Program Implementation Achievements by the APKARI Central Executive Board.” This session provided a detailed analysis of the progress and effectiveness of APKARI’s initiatives.
The New Chairman

At the closing ceremony of the event, Hasanuddin, the Head of the Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) of Makassar City, was elected as the Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Firefighters Association (APKARI) for the 2024-2028 term.
Following a series of processes that included candidate debates and presentations of visions and missions, Hasanuddin successfully garnered the majority of votes. He will be succeeding Drs. Satriadi Gunawan, who served as the Chairman of DPP APKARI for the 2020-2024 term.
The election marks a significant transition in leadership and is expected to bring new perspectives and strategies to the association’s efforts in fire prevention and mitigation across Indonesia.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A session, allowing participants to address specific concerns and share insights regarding the association’s work and future plans.
The 2024 APKARI Working Meeting has set a strong foundation for continued collaboration and improvement in fire safety standards across Indonesia, reaffirming the association’s commitment to reducing fire risks and enhancing public safety under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
